Day 2: Excursions in Zanzibar
Spices from Zanzibar are famous around the world and a holiday to Zanzibar would be incomplete without a visit to the spice plantations. The sultan of Oman first introduced these kinds of plantations on the island in 1873. Day 3: Excursions in Zanzibar
On the coral limestone coast of Mangapwani you will have the chance to descend to the dark slave chambers and the slave cave. The chambers have been used to hide slaves brought from the African mainland waiting to be shipped to Arabia or the French overseas colonies.
Stone town is one of the few intact historical Swahili coastal trading towns of East Africa. Stone Town was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000. The tour includes the central market, the former slave market with the Anglican Cathedral, Tippu Tip House, the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, the Palace Museum, former residence of the Sultan and princess Salme, and the Maruhubi Palace Ruins. Day 4: Excursions in Zanzibar
Jozani Forest is part of the “Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park”, a tropical natural reserve forming an important ecosystem. The high, dense ground water forest is home to the red colobus monkey, a very rare species only found in Zanzibar. The blue Sykes monkey, elephant shrews and bush babies are other animals to be seen.
